With the collapse of the Mezzanine due to club trouble this left the AO homeless AGAIN!!! So this year saw the Orange relocate to another contraversial venue..the canal club. known even more for its housey housey roots, AO fans feared it was all over. A very rocky start left fans even more disapointed with two failed gigs due to the club refit and some overly particular fire safety officers who had had a bad day.

But as always it was up to the crew to prove a venue is just a venue and the crowd make the night - and numbers started to climb again back to old times.

the february wake up

With the dawning of a new club year..the orange rammed this club whilst tentaivly waiting on the polices decision on the fate of the club after the new year eve trouble

Sol Ray kicked up a storm and made sure this was going to be a year to remember

March madness

S4 came over from Canada to cast his trance spell.

It was Keefs 30th B`day

Live PAs from Vicious Circle and the Wolvs Gansta Villians saw the red room packed all night

Still no decision from the council about the clubs fate!

The Mezzanine, Wolverhampton
Bringing a storm on in

The descison had come the mezzanine was not granted its licence back and the end was very close indeed. we hung on in for more time... we needed stability

This month it was the turn of the London Djs to show us whats happening 'dahn souf'.. Oberon from Samsara and Rubec from fish complimented the resident heads and it was all hands on decks!

Fri 11th May

The Mezzanine, Wolverhampton
Beats with a force of a tidal wave

This was to be the last gig at the Mezz the licence had gone.. but we played on. No beer but that wasnt a problem, it never has been for the AO fans! teas and cofEes alround kept the night ticking

Orange Peel was the main star as the crowd was the biggest it had ever been, numbers swelled and Richie Swift and Dan cleaned up upstairs.

A Hike over the other side of town

The final bolt dropped on the door of the Mezz two days after flyers printed...gahh! 20,000 stickers on the flyers were printed and hand stuck before the flyers could be got out. A dash to the only other club big enough to get the fans in!

We were now resident at the canal club

Jo Shiva made a welcome return and scored one for the ladies! Whilst the drum and bass hogged the better upstairs room the ground floor was all a mass of wobbly limbs as we packed them in

secret location
outdoor party

After the venue for the weekend fell through (...farmer arguments about landrights for grazing cattle), we switched locations for a one nighter instead.

A shame but the gig was great. Djs were free and easy and the sets more relaxed and bouncy, the clearing of the wood was sloped and covered, the weather mild and the rain held off. campfires were lit and danced around as glow sticks hung in trees to illuminate your path. It was a beautiful site and the big swing was a firm favorite. The music went on till 6 when environmental health got wind and shut us down..but in a nice way! We cleared up..and went home

Summer

Here, there and everywhere!

Bulldog Bash, Long Marston
9/10/11th Aug

The Bulldog bash was a massive sucess.. given free reign this year to 'do what thou wilst' we made the tent our own.

A 100 ft long tent packed with a few hundred up for it Bikers was a sight to see..as was the head of the UK chapter of the Hells Angels on dancing on stage having the time of his Life! WOW.

This gig rocked. Large style. We had people buying weekend tickets just to come to join in the fun for a nightand the mix of clubbers and bikers was a great site! The festival was fantastic, weather great and the people the most chilled and laid back Id ever seen at a festival.

Sol Ray played a near legendary set.. we were all knocked for six. as the man himself said after the gig
"where do I go from here?".

and if you meet any of the AO crew just ask them about the on stage sex change android...now thats a story..say no more!

Torture Garden (London)

This was going to be massive, we had done fetish night in the past but these guys were the real deal!

Work on the club had been slow all summer, planning delays because of the club being a listed building caused a virtual stand still.

So we were al incredibly disapointed when it was pulled Strike 1!
